I have been doing hair for over fifteen years. I attended Cosmetology school in 2007, and have enjoyed cutting hair ever since. I specialize in cutting all types of hair, and love coloring as well. I have continued my educational training ever since finishing hair school by attending countless classes on color theory and placement, as well as countless classes on advanced hair cutting techniques.

I became interested in hair after constantly struggling with my own thick curly hair growing up. In high school I got into punk rock and its accompanying aesthetic. I would spend nights cutting and coloring my friends hair before whatever show was coming up that weekend. I really loved the challenges involved with using hair as a medium for my creative outlet and self expression.

I spent the first 8 years of my career in Regina, Sk. I then moved to Calgary 9 years ago in 2014, and I’ve been happily working at 1977 since.

I enjoy spending my spare time with my wife Alex and our cat, Sonny. I love time spent outdoors in the sun, whether it’s in the mountains riding bikes, or testing out all the different sunny patios that Calgary has to offer.

I am always accepting new clients and welcome any challenge when it comes to cutting all types of hair… see you soon!

Hi, I’m Kenna! I’ve been doing hair for 8 years and makeup for 14 years and I love it!

My start was going to Blanche Macdonald makeup centre in Vancouver, which I followed with many years in the tv & film industry as well as weddings and special events. Then, after spending a few years in the UK, I found my way to Calgary where I decided to add hairstyling to my skill set at the Aveda Institute. I worked hard, absorbed from my mentors, built my amazing clientele and fell in love with working behind the chair in a salon.

Expanding and perfecting my skills with regular education is important to me in order to stay inspired and current for my guests. Traveling to Santa Monica to attend the Vidal Sassoon Academy was a highlight. Also choosing to surround myself with such talented stylists at 1977, who I learn from every day is the best!

Taking the time to listen, to then help people feel confident and the relationships that are built along the way is one of the best parts of my job. Seeing someone leave with a smile on their face, whether it was after getting creative with colour or designing with my scissors, makes me so happy.

On my days off you can often find me in my hometown of Canmore, mountain biking, skiing and spending time with family. If I’m not in the mountains, I love checking out the amazing restaurants we have here in YYC. Ten Foot Henry is my fav!

I would love to meet you in my chair soon!

Hi! I’m Nikki .B.

I love doing lived in colour, richly toning while seamlessly blending, creating a soft dimensional low maintenance colour. I love cutting blunt bobs as well as intentional shapes to best suit your personal style. I enjoy meeting new people and getting to know the different lifestyles they live. It's nice to learn new perspectives of people's choices of living. I love the "hands on" craft that hair is. I love when I can make my client’s day because they love their hair. I love the setting of my job and that I can be creative every day when I’m at work.

Traveling and being active are important to me. I especially love doing yoga. I traveled to Bali, Indonesia in 2019 and completed my 200hr yoga teacher training. My goal is to start teaching. I am an auntie of 5 and I love being an auntie!

My most recent training was a video I watched on the Behind the Chair training platform. It was a fast high impact blonde video by Oana Ciofu, a Behind the Chair stylist. I’m constantly watching instagram videos of other stylists. Right now I find Rachel Williams style of cutting intriguing and informative, she is another Behind the Chair stylist.

I’ve completed many courses over the years - Toni and Guy (London, England), Vidal Sassoon ABC cutting, Bumble and Bumble cutting class, Amika styling class, Wella, Schwarzkopf and Redken colour knowledge classes- which are all color lines we use + carry at 1977.

ROBYN MIZERA

Independent Stylist / Chair Renter

Hi! I'm Robyn,

I've been in the hair industry for over a decade now,  and am still as in love with the craft as ever. Over my career I have been lucky to work with some of the best that Calgary and all of Canada has to offer, which has kept me inspired and constantly wanting to improve. Working at 1977salon for the last 3 years has not only surrounded me with other talented stylists, but has allowed me to learn from them and hone in on my strengths. My love for continued education has now come full circle and led me to employment with @Schwarzkopfcan as a hair color and brand educator.

My schedule is filled with all sorts of hair services. From my ride or die every 4 week regulars, to lived in color clients who pop in every 3-12 months to freshen up. I love anything from low maintenance blondes and brunettes and rich reds, to trendy fashion colour placements. I believe in customizing color and cuts for my clients lifestyle, which starts with a detailed consultation in order to discover what will make them look and feel their best!

When I'm not working, you can find me at home hanging with my husband, watching reality TV in the bath tub, or at a local show here in Calgary's dynamic music scene 🎸
